A reference matrix of instruments by jurisdiction, each with its level, status and effective date, so policy work starts from the current position.

Ask for evidence that can be compared

Metric families, boundaries and units of work, so two suppliers can be assessed on the same environmental basis, and so public money is not spent on claims that cannot be checked.

Know which stage you are actually at

Five stages with completion tests, which tends to be more useful than a plan that assumes the first stage is complete.

  • Write procurement criteria that make bids comparable and stay open to new entrants
  • Design policy for interoperability and mutual recognition across borders

Every module ends with an application exercise and a worked solution.

How you are assessed

  • A short knowledge check after every module, drawn at random from that module’s pool
  • A final assessment of 30 scenario-judgement questions from a pool of 105+
  • 80% to pass, 60 minutes, retake available
  • Questions test judgement in situations you will meet — not recall of figures that date
